In 2003, Sun E. Choi and Augustine H. Kim established The Metropolitan Law Group, L.L.C. to represent clients in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
The two principals of the firm complement each other’s practice areas. Ms. Choi represents clients in criminal defense and family law matters. Mr. Kim represents corporate and individual clients in business transactions and bankruptcy matters.
With their fresh and innovative approach to creating strategic options for each client, rather than "doing the same old thing," the firm’s client base grew rapidly.
In 2004, Joseph T. Nah joined the firm. Mr. Nah represents the firm’s Virginia-based corporate and individual clients in civil and commercial litigation.
In 2005, Allison R. Fortmann joined the firm to lead the family law practice. Ms. Fortmann’s experience as a judicial law clerk gives her invaluable insight into a judge’s perspective of what is important and required to win complex domestic matters.
In 2007, the firm invited Gloria H. Lee. Ms. Lee’s impressive background in legal research and writing provides a solid foundation for the firm’s appellate practice. Ms. Lee represents clients in appellate practice, bankruptcy, and complex civil litigation.
In 2008, the firm recruited Anthony R. Champ to join the firm. Mr. Champ is a natural litigator who zealously advocates clients’ interests in bankruptcy and litigation practice.
